freezer help

Hi all

Can someone let me know if I have frozen meat and chicken bought last year (Jan) fresh, and then frozen will it be ok to use now? It say use within the month on the packets! Many thanks in advance ps love the board!

    Well it won't have gone bad because it's been in the freezer but you may find the quality has deteriorated -taxture may be stringy, there may be freezer burn, flavour might have diminished. So, yes it is edible;)
  • It depends upon the type of freezer. I presume you are using a 'deep freeze' model - i.e. minus 22 degrees Celsius.

    Food will keep indefinitely at this temperature. I remember in the early 1990's it was reported that some meat from the EU 'beef mountain' was being released into the food chain. This meat was over seven years old.
