Help please!

Hi Guys

I need some advice please

I was made redundant in November but they asked me to work up until the end of decemer and then I woudl get paid January and February (as had only been at company for 5 months)
I have just found out I am pregnant so no joy in going off and looking for a job this week whhich was my plan once xmas was out the way!
Hubby earns a lot less than me and is on £25K a year (I was on £40K a year BUT that meant I paid stupid amount intax every month)

What I need to know is what benefits/ tax credits am I entitled to whilst I am pregnant?! Thanks

I am putting m flat on the market tomorrow and looking to buy a house but if I get paid the next two months should I tell my mortgage people or still apply for a new mortgage on my wage?

I guess it depends how far pregnant you are, you could still claim JSA if you are below 29 weeks pregnant, if over then income support, or you may have possibly accured enough NI that you could get maternity allowance - its probably best to book appointment with CAB, they should help you out :)

I was made redundant at about 9 weeks pregnant and apart from JSA there was nothing extra available money-wise because we owned our house and therefore didn't get any help with anything and husband earned 'too much' (same as yours gets). You would get Maternity Allowance instead of Statutory Maternity Pay but on SMP you would have got 90% of your pay for 6 weeks and with MA you don't get that, just the standard weekly amount.

I applied for and interviewed for jobs as normal, no need to tell anyone I was pregnant at the time, I wasn't showing as it was still early on and I gathered it was better to be in a job than not as we'd not have managed if I was just on JSA as I was the main wage earner like you.

    How pregnant are you?

£117.18 per week as long as you qualify. The conditions are in the link above.

However, you have plenty of working weeks left in you yet to enable you to build up some money beforehand (unless it's not a straightforward pregnancy and yo are ill or whatever). I would get applying for other jobs asap before it becomes difficult for you.
