Crown come off!!

Help, a crown on my back tooth has just come off!! There is a wire inside the crown and I can feel another wire inside the tooth where it was fixed. Typically, dentist is shut and I am wondering what these wires are - do they just fix the tooth in place or is it my root fillings???
The crown looks intact, any ideas what my chances are to having it refitted?
Many thanks
Sue

I think they are probably open later this afternoon, but I dont rate my chances of getting in today!

My crown came off one evening and I was lucky enough to get in the next day. I was really glad as mine was a front tooth, embarrassing and painful.
My dentist surgery has called me this morning to remind me of my appointment on monday. Good as monday is a check up not so nice when its for a filling and I'm nervous enough.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

If you are in pain ring NHS Direct and ask for the adress of an Emergency dentist.0

Just as I thought, cant get in until monday. Receptionist couldnt really say what the two pieces of wire were. She thought the crown could be re-attached as it was intact. Any dentists out there who can tell me what these wires are?
Thanks

Not without seeing it. Could be old fashioned silver point root filling, could be pins from a pin retained filling. Either way, sounds like more than just a simple re-cementing of the crown, as stuff has probably broken down a bit under the crown in order to expose these things. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Thanks for the reassurance Toothsmith. When the crown came off the wire was embedded in a piece of broken enamel inside the crown, so I was hoping it was something simple like pins!

Just lie down flat if you're caught in a thunderstorm :rotfl:How to find a dentist.
