I would recommend looking at getting a pair of... SHE hair straighteners.
Got my girlfriend & sister a pair at christmas, they love them. They say they're just as good as GHDs.
You can get them for £50 of ebay, (Saloon Angels) with £4.95 postage or there website... www.shehair.com

I decided to take the plunge 2 years ago and buy ghd, and have never regretted it since! In fact I regret not spending the money earlier as I love them so much:j
I bought them from this site:
https://www.ghd-uk.co.uk/
And a friend bought them from there recently too with no probs.0 -
I too would def recommend GHD's. I have had so many pairs of straightners I have lost count and GHD's are way way above the rest. Well worth the extra money.
Firstly DO NOT buy from Ebay - 99% are fakes - I got some pink ones for a friend, looked fantastic but were rubbish and confirmed as fakes.
Go to GHD website direct before buying from anywhere (Even alot of websites sell fakes) and verify the website with them. Here is the link:

I have just brought the new purple set from here for Christmas present:

Was very impressed with the service and delivery times and confirmed with GHD they are genuine retailers so you get the warranty.0 -
I've loved my GHDs every since I got them for my birthday almost two years ago!
This may be off-topic but does anyone know how I can test whether or not they're heating up properly? They still work but don't seem to give that ridiculous super straight finish anymore..0 -

Could take them to your hairdressers? many use GHDs now and if you take yours in, they cluld try them on your hair (if your getting it cut or styled) and they could tell you.
Otherwise try contacting GHD, they are all free to repair or whatever for 18 months in many cases, and if they are the IV style, thats 24 months. (Says so on the website).
But do think about your hair as if it is very very dry (from over use of heated styling products) it will be much harder to straighten, GHDs or not. This is due to there being little moisture in the hair strands and the hair shaft itself being very brittle and less pliable/easy to change shape. If that is the case then you really can't do much else then wait for it to grow back whilst in the mean time, applying intensive conditioner or leave in conditioner to make it more manageable. (Unfortunatly its not possible to repair your hair even if the ads say it is!) once its grown out, chop off damaged hair legnths and start again- go easy though!
Sorry- will stop rambling now!0 -

I got these for Christmas, and I have to say they are brilliant. I've never owned a pair of GHDs, although my hairdresser uses them on my hair when I go, and my old Babyliss pair just didn't do the same job at all.
I have really thick wavy hair and am really pleased with the SCP pair, especially as they are the wide ones.0 -
I have had two piar of ghd's one the main iron bit broke off and the second one they started maknig strange sounds so i stopped using them. I did complain to the company but never got a reply. I brought them from a salon aswell so they should have been fine am now using some cheap ones (easier to replace!) that work fine as i dont seem to have much luck with hair straightners! I do know a lot of people who seem to be fine with them so maybe a bad batch or something!0

Really? Ah I didn't know that. I've been having to put my hair up so much because of work and I'm sure it's been damaging it.
Thanks for the advice, will use some intensive conditioners to see if it helps.. And will give GHD CS a ring..0
