Ive recently been suspended from work due to swearing in an office, could I lose my job through this as swearing is common pratice as its in a warehouse ?

It really depends. Was it a one off incident, or is it a regular occurrence? Was the swearing aimed at a person?

You say that it is common practice in your workplace, have you been singled out, or is there a particular reason why what you said was worse/ unsuitable?

Personally I cannot stand swearing, I think there is rarely any need for it. However, the possibility of you being dismissed really depends on the bigger picture surrounding the incident.

As dmg24 has said, it all depends on the circumstances.

Saying "f***!" when you drop a heavy load on your foot for example is one thing, but telling someone to "f*** off" is quite another.

Do you have a contract, and if so what does it say about written warnings or dismissal? The contract I had in my last job gave examples of things which could be classed as gross misconduct, and among them was "using abusive language and/or aggressive behaviour". But just because they CAN sack you for this, doesn't mean that they will.

I assume you've been suspended pending investigation...? If so, at some point you will likely be called in for a meeting, where you will get a chance to put your side of the story across. And rather than using "well everyone else swears too" as a defence, I would be extremely apologetic, accept that you were in the wrong, and assure them that it won't happen again (and obviously make sure it doesn't!).
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.

If you've been suspended for swearing you should have had a verbal then written warning about it. If you have, why are you complaining? If you haven't, consult a union.

Not always. Depending on the seriousness of the situation, it could go straight to suspension.
