Sky and moving house/new contracts

Hopefully an easy one - I put this on the main Sky thread, but haven't had any response, so wondered if it might get picked up on in it's own right.
The Sky+ has always been in DHs name, and we're due to move house in a few weeks time.
Sky want to charge him £60 to move the service, but if I go to them as a new customer (never had Sky in my own name), they'll only charge £30 and throw in a new basic box, plus if I sign up online I'll get a £15 credit from them, and a potential £10 from Quidco.
So, my questions -
1) Do they credit check? (I'm in the early months of a DMP so wouldn't pass any searches right now)
2) If we wanted to get our existing Sky+ box reactivated after a suitable period at the new house (would tell them we'd been given one), would Sky charge setup for that (we'd be on the level of package where there is no monthly sky+ subscription fee).
Can anyone help?

sorry to hear you did not get much response from the sky board.
I moved into a new home a few years ago. When i contacted sky, they also wanted £60 to install a new dish, blar blar. I told them I could not offord this, and wanted to end my contract - bingo, they did it for noithing. Sky is like lots of other companies, once they got you, they dont care, but will bend a little if you tell them you gonna leave, and if your a new customer you get the trimmings also. Threaten to leave, and see what they say.
In regards to credit checking, nah i dont recall having that doneTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
The only trouble with doing this is, you will get a standard install, so no extra cable for sky+ or no quad LNB. If you ask the installer "nicely" (ie bit of extra dough) then he may install extra equip for you and set up your old box.
But personally I think the best way to go, is to go to your local shopping centre and start as a new customer that way. Round our way they're all giving free sky+ to new customers plus free install. If you cant do this either then go on the referers board and see if anyone can refer you with free sky+ too.
As for credit checks, dont think they bother. You'd be fine.
HTH a bit anyway.

Thank you both - never thought about them installing different lines for the two boxes, so I'll have a look around for any instore deals on the Sky+, and if there's no joy there, then we'll just have to see what we can do with DHs account (don't mind going without for a little while anyway - might do the kids good to see what it was like 'in the old days' with only a handful of channels, lol
