Diamond ring lost a stone...will they exchange?

Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of advice - I bought this ring for my OH's birthday (30th Dec) - she was thrilled with it - but Friday (2 days later), we found that one of the baguette stones had fallen out (Not 100%, but I'm sure they're not the diamonds of the ring, see the pic on link as its hard to describe :o ). We were away for New Year, so will be going to Argos tomorrow (well today.. ) so just looking for the heads up on whether there will be a problem taking this back? Surely this shouldn't have happened after 2 days wear?

Thanks in advance! :)

I'm sure you'll have no problem. The stone shouldn't fall out at all - let alone after two days wear. The setting must be faulty.

As long as you have the receipt then it should be a replacement or refund if it's not in stock...x

    glad you got it sorted!
  • I had a ring and the stones fell out, proof of purchase (not receipt, but cc statement) and they sent the ring away for "testing". Predictably the results came back that it was wear and tear and that the stones were only glued in, so not expected to last. They had lasted about 2 months. It wasn't replaced or refunded and I met some pretty cheeky staff along the way too.

You're lucky on the price - general policy is that any diamond ring over £100 has to be sent off to distribution to be authenticated due to the amount of ring swaps etc. Within 30 days they'd replace or refund the ring following successful authentication; after 30 days it would be a repair (charged if due to wear and tear) or replacement at store's discretion.
