Hey fellow cold-sore sufferers!!
Found 5% acyclovir cream, which is the same concentration as Zovirax, for 99p in Home Bargains, there was a galpharm one in Aldi for about £1.60 too, a big saving on named brand, and the Boots brand too.
I've stocked up in anticipation of the next tingle!!

I agree this is a big bargain. Manufacturers of the branded versions would have you believe there is something special about the base (cream) they use that enhances the penetration of the drug and makes for a superior product, this is totally untrue. Generic medicines are just as good as the branded originals and all consumers should flex their spending power accordingly.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Cheers!
I've been buying generic painkillers for years, but really chuffed with this one, as the only own brand acyclovir I've seen is boots, and that's almost as expensive as Zovirax.
It's exactly the same concentration of active ingredient, just goes to show how much of a mark up there is on named brands doesn't it? Galpharm must still be making a profit or they wouldn't make it, would they?
Damn Glaxo, profiteering on our blistery misery!!!0
