yes, they are brilliant, I buy these all the time and keep them in the garage. They are nice and big, I use onions most days so ideal for me.0

Also Sainsburys were selling 1.5kg of their Basics onions for 25p earlier this week.Haven't been back in since Tues so I am not sure if this offer is still on - equals 4.5kg for 75p or 6kg for £1.00!!!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550

I got a kg for 17p in Lidl today.......I am pretty new to this OS stuff. I just had to jump up and check the weight on my bag as at the time I thought they were a bargain and was wondering after reading this wether i'd been ripped off or not!LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0

Don't have an Asda near by,but I usually buy onions from local market, they are about £3 for 10kg.Great not having to haul veggies all the time,so buy sack of spuds off 'egg man',also swedes!

A newbie question here - but how long can you expect onions to keep for, stored in a garage?
Likewise with potatoes, etc...
Thanks in advance.Personal ISA Contributions Challenge - current £0 (as at 1 April 2014) / target £15,000 (deadline 31 Mar 2015)0 -
my potatoes and onions are stored in our utility room which is as cold as our shed (no heating in there - just bare stone walls) and they last agesNo big food shop for 3 weeks - total spent £27.25
hoping to keep it under £75 for 7 of us and 5 cats 1 dog for 3 weeks0 -

Sorry to be a bit dumb, but how long is ages - are we talking weeks?Personal ISA Contributions Challenge - current £0 (as at 1 April 2014) / target £15,000 (deadline 31 Mar 2015)0 -
I grow my own onions and harvested mine in late September.
I still have loads left, which I'm storing in my cellar and they will last for another couple of months quite happily.
The worst bit is if they run out before about July, I'll have to buy some!0 -

The Lidl ones are on offer at the moment, which is one reason why they are cheaper than the ASDA offer [Lidl works out at 87p for 5kg]
I always stock up on them when on offer, keep months in fridge bottom, just check there is not a "squidgy" one amongst them
PS, red onions also on offer in Lidl, can't remeber price sorryEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
