Hi Have you tried adding some McDougalls instant thickening granules, its used for thickening up gravies, casseroles, soups and sauces, so that should work, i have used this before with good results and it doesn't affect the taste.20p savers club

Hi FeeFee,
I would do the same as Butterfly Brain has suggested. Mix some cornflour in a little cold milk or water and over a gentle heat stir it into the soup. Continue to cook for a couple of minutes stiring continuously.
Another alternative is to reduce the soup by cooking and allowing some of the liquid to evaporate, but you'll have to keep a close eye on it to ensure it doesn't 'catch'.
I very rarely follow a recipe....I have learned so much about cooking from my mistakes. There's an earlier thread that might give you some more ideas:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Not sure, but would it thicken if you added 'old' potatoes sliced thin & then liquidised the whole lot when the potatoes had softened ~ a bit fiddly but would make the soup more substantial0

A veggie friend of mine made mushroom soup by combining equal amounts of white sauce and stock with mushrooms in. She made the white sauce quite thick by putting less milk in the roux mixture.
Very tasty way of making soup.

when I'm making mushroom soup, I always put white bread crumbs (no crusts) in it and that has the effect of thickening it up. Depending on your quantity of soup you'll need about 100g or 4 oz, but start of with a little, rather than making it too thick.0

Sorry if someone's said this already.
Put some cornflour and COLD water in a cup, mix it well, then add it to the soup and stir while it heats up and thickens.
