Until the 31 January, if you take your old Christmas cards to one of the following stores, they will be collected as part of the Woodland Trust Christmas Card Recycling Scheme to plant trees and create the largest new native forest in England.
The stores taking part are:
WHSmith UK mainland high street stores only – (excludes Travel stores, Isle of Wight, Belfast & Channel Islands)
Tesco All supermarkets including selected Express stores
Marks and Spencer all stores including selected Simply Food stores
TK Maxx
This was mentioned by silverbirch1 and lizziewizzie in last week's Recycle and Reuse great hunt so thanks for the top spot. This new thread's for us to mention in the weekly email and to add more info.

i have to ask the question of "what is the point" when there are warehouses full of cardboard and paper across the UK ref Daily Mail report last Sunday.
Suppose it makes people feel good but too be honest there is no point and the mountains of material which cannot be used is the reason why, actually its worse than that as our council tax is going to go up to pay for the storage costs !!! Hay Ho we all feel good though !! Wake up to thre real world.0 -

It's a lot cheaper to create cardboard from cardboard than it is to create cardboard from wood.
If you go to WHSmith to recycle, you'll probably find the bins right at the back of the store. They're dark blue with white writing, about 2' high.0 -
And don't forget you can also recycle your cards at your local library....at least in Leicestershire.........libraries recycle cards every year!:j0

We always cut up our cards & make gift tags for presents for future events.
This can work with birthday as well as Easter & Christmas cards etc.
The recyclers get the bits that are left.
Also, if you have the room to burn your cardboard boxes instead of landfill, you can use the ashes on your borders & veg beds as a good natural source of potash. Simply spread around & water in.
