Inheritance Tax Question?

in Cutting tax
I have a second home which I wish to give joint ownership to my son to avoid inheritance tax in the future. He would therefore have 50% ownership of this property.
I understand that this would take a full 7 years to come into effect.
I am worried about what would happen in the future if my son were to
get married and then divorced as unfortunately this now seems to be the current trend.
Would his future wife be entitled to half of his 50% stake in the property? And if so would there be any way to protect against this?

if you give your son half the house then you will be liable for CGT if appropriate based on the current price.
as he will then be half owner of the property, then
if he dies it will form part of his estate (and not yours) ;
if he divorces/ separates then it will form part of his assets as part of the settlement,
if he has debts or goes bankrupt then again it will form part of his assets.0
