Overdraft

ha ha ha ha. Transfered my overdraft to a zero percent card, called barclays to cancel overdraft, nice man nearly fell off his chair, he said it was the first time anyone had ever asked to do that!!

Also it took longer to cancel my overdraft than it did to set it up.

I want to drop my overdraft down gradually and from looking at Barclays website, I have to go in store and do it. I dont know how it will affect the Personal Reserve though ?
  • Cally I just do it over the phone, ring the number on the back of your card.

Lemon tree, they'll not let me reduce it on line, only increase it!! ha ha ha

The banks are there to help though ..... yeah right .... help you get further into debt!

luckly mine will let you decrease online, but you have to reduce in £50 multiples, which was tricky to start with, but i've got it under control now.

You with HBOS? I just tried to reduce my Halifax overdraft online as I don't need as large a limit and they want me to go to a branch or phone them. Boo...
  • Sorry mate I'm with barclays. Not sure what the set up with HBOS is. Could you make a trip to town to co-incide with pay day? Then pop into branch to reduce your limit? Depends on how far your branch is away I suppose!

Were you paying more in interest on the overdraft than on any of the other debts?
I'm actually continuing to use my overdraft each month up to the max as the interest rate is very low compared to the Barclaycard and other debts I have.
