Condensor tumble dryer recommendation please

Can anyone recommend a good condensor tumble dryer around the £200 mark.

Ideally I would like sensor drying and was looking at this one from currys

http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1072039292.1230837610@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdladegdkklldjcflgceggdhhmdfog.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=833553&category_oid=

however I have been looking at reviews and it seems like BEKO isnt very reliable.

Hoping one of the fellow MSE can point me in the right direction

Don't get a Hotpoint. I got one last year and it's unbelievably noisy.

I've got a Hotpoint! Can't remember the model number, but it is the cheaper of the two that they do at John Lewis.

I think with any appliance, you will get people with good and bad experiences. I have always had Hotpoint appliances, and would recommend them. I would not recommend Hoover appliances, but that is from the comments of others, not my own experiences.

I wouldn't go for a Beko, but again that is from experiences of others, I haven't ever owned one myself.

So is a condenser dryer one where you don't need an outlet? It fills with water and you chuck it out right? They any good?
Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

I have a white knight and was fairly cheap. Love it! Couldn't live without it, cheap and quiet

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

I always buy Hotpoint too. Fridge/Freezer, washer, hob, oven and extractor are all Hotpoint. And all previous appliances were Hotpoint too, including my vented dryer, so I don't have a problem with them - apart from the condensor dryer. It's so noisy (couldn't hear the TV in the livingroom when it was on in the kitchen! So we now have it in the garage. Even then I was worried incase it would bother the neighbours!)

It's not just me (and no, I haven't reviewed it on there).

    Hiya Mrs To Be! :hello:

I am looking to get a Condenser Tumble Dryer too.
I have looked about a bit, and finally come to a descision!
Have you considered Argos at all? They have some fabulous bargains on Condensers at the moment. There is a great Candy one for £165.xx (which is the one I am getting)
I have a Candy washing machine, and it's brilliant- so I would happily buy another Candy appliance. If my memory serves me right, it is also free P&P on orders over £150.

There are also other condensers at reduced prices of course. But just be carefull where you buy from at the moment, with all the reports of companies going into Administration- and other reports of said companies trying to pressure customers into buying 'extended guarantees' which, should the worst happen- will effectively be worthless and void.

I hope you find what you are after! (PS, Many congratulations on your engagement/ recent nuptials)

From experience I wouldn't have a condenser dryer given!

They take 3 times longer than a vented one to dry 1 load of laundry

They use twice as much electricity as they are powering the refridgeration unit as well as the heater/motor

They dribble water all over.. even when new

I'm getting rid of both of mine to get a vented dryer because they are just so much better and more economical to use. In fact if you were closer I would give you them both!

I've got Hoover at the moment, but have had Whirlpool, Zanussi, my mother has a Creda and they are all absolute rubbish.

1 7kg load of washing takes around 6 HOURS to dry.. it dries quicker than that on the radiators!

My one takes absolutely ages to dry anything as well. I thought it was just because I had a cr*p machine, not the fact that it was a condensor. My vented ones were a lot better. It cost me £60 (was a few years ago though) to get a builder in to put a hole and pipe in the wall for the vent pipe. Much better though!
  • The main reason I need a condensor one is because i have no where to vent a hose. Im in rented and even with the kitchen window open it it fills with steam.

I have been looking at the Candy one on Argos but its out of stock! I think im going to go with a white knight one. Thought i wanted a sensor drying one but now im not so bothered!

I wont be putting washing in straight from machine will be putting it on the line to blow out or on a clothes horse first.....eats electric otherwise!
