Free Typing Speed Test

oh my god I got 48 I am crap!! Stupid test anyway ( that's my excuse)0

Given that even really proficient typists rarely type at speeds over 100wpm, I think that this typing test is measuring something other than words per minute as I'm consistently able to get well over 100. In reality I only type at about 60wpm according to typing tests, so take the results with a pinch of salt before you start touting yourself as an 150wpm at a job interview!!

in fact just tried it now on "crazy phrases" (5 sentences) and got 102wpm. Much better cos it takes your mistakes in to account.0 -

It took me a while to get the hang of the first one: didn't realise I was meant to start typing IYSWIM. But eventually 148 wpm. Didn't like the fact that it just stopped when I made a mistake, usually I just keep going and my fingers 'tell' me they haven't typed the wrong thing so I go back and correct it.
To prove my point, 82 wpm on the second, no errors, 1 minute test. Found it rather disconcerting to have it underline the word I was on. But it can't have put me off that much!
Couldn't get Mr KenT to work at all! What am I missing? Nowhere to start typing in, and just typing doesn't do it!Signature removed for peace of mind0
