Find me a wedding dress!

OK peeps - I need your help!
OH and I hope to get married in summer 2010 - depends on how quickly we save the money! We're going for a wedding abroad somewhere. OH wants Las Vegas, I want a horseback wedding. If I can't have my own horse there, that's the next best thing!
Annnnyway, I've been looking at dresses but I don't really think the big white dress is really 'me', nor do I think it'll be right for the circumstances. It'll be a first (and only!) wedding for both of us - both mid-30s.
I quite like the idea of a vintage gown, but prom dress isn't really me. I'd like something I can wear again - if I'm spending that much money on an outfit, I'd better be able to wear more than once!
If you want measurements, I'm 5'6 and a size 8-10, so can carry off most things.
So, find me something striking. That I can wear sat on a western saddle if needed. Budget - no more than £300.
Have fun!!!

With my first wedding, I was sure that I didn't want a big, white meringue frock. I was going to get married in something black and slinky BUT as the day approached nearer, I felt more and more that I would feel 'cheated' somehow if I didn't have my moment as a princess.
This time around, I've gone for the biggest white meringue I could find!! lol
All I'm saying is that when you see THE dress, you'll know it's for you and it might not be what you first imagined.
Good luck!0 -
Have a look at Ronald Joyce's Victoria Jane collection- these dresses are designed to be subtle and there would be some perfect ones for what you describe. I am biased of course as mine is a Victoria Jane.0

Ok, so I'm not even getting married (a girl can dream, lol!) so I'm not even sure why I'm on this forum (wishful thinking probably!)
But I love this kind of thing so here are a few suggestions, although I do agree with minxy_bella in that when you find THE ONE, you will know.

If you are wanting a horseback wedding why not wear a riding skirt and a nice blouse? You can wear them again.

There is more choice on American sites - I found a cowboy site that had lots of riding skirts in all colours and styles. I found this (there are more split riding skirts on the site too) : http://storesonline.com/site/1518953/product/CK-LROT0 -
Have you tried ebay? I'm looking a for a dress myself and someone suggested trying it, defo worth a look. one i'm looking at is £140 including delievery and same one retails for £650 on another site0

Thanks everyone.
It looks like we've settled on a beach wedding after an arguement last night! OH doesn't want horseback, I don't want Vegas.
I have also - gulp - decided to make my own dress. I'm quite handy with a sewing machine so we'll see how it goes! I've found a pattern I love on ebay, and am just waiting to find the perfect fabric.
Wish me luck..........!0 -

I'm already married, but a friend used this UK site www.sunkissedbrides.co.uk and was very happy with her dress.
I just had another look at it and they even have a sale on at the moment.
Another one that I liked, but didn't use was the US label www.dessy.com
Hope this helps.
