Can anyone answer a question re Pensions and Living In France

We are retired and live in France, we have a school age daughter, my husband is in reciept of the state pension and a private pension, still things are tight.

Other people in the U.K. get additional benefits such as winter fuel allowance, I understand that If you have never claimed it before you cannot now. ( unfair).

Can anyone who may be in the know tell me , will the rules change ?

The basic rule for expats is that you have to have claimed it in the UK before you moved abroad to keep on receiving it overseas.You cannot put in a first claim from abroad..

To be fair (and despite the fact that it is certainly pretty chilly in winter up mountains in Spain,not to mewntion Switzerland ) IMHO it is politically quite difficult for the Govt to pay WFA to people who live on the Med, which is well known to have much warmer weather than in the UK.

Recipients usually do not push their luck on this one.
