Does anyone own a clothes steamer, I want to buy one and am looking for recommendations.
I worked in a charity shop and the one they had was fab but it was probably a professional one and too big for home use.

Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

I know Lakeland do one - they also do a guarantee that if you're not satisfied with a product you can return it.

My mum bought the Lakeland one and wasn't impressed at all - it really didn't do anything to the clothes and seemed very underpowered and drippy. She sent it back as it really wasn't any use to her. Definitely one to avoid.0

Don't do it! I have a Jiffy steamer, think it is an American brand, I live in the Middle East and the shops out here all use them. So being that I dont like ironing I thought it would be a good idea to buy one. While shopping in Massimo Dutti one of the assistants was using one, i gave it a try and thought it was great. Went downstairs to the shop and parted with my hard earned cash. It was about 80GDP which was in the sale, should have been about 150GBP. I think it was a knee jerk reaction purchase, which normally is not the way that i operate and the assistant had been steaming the shirt before i went near it and i was desperate not to iron so looking for an easy way out of it. LOL
Couldnt wait to try it next day. What a total waste of time and money. It really is a mess to use, very hot, very drippy, extremely time consuming, doesnt do shirts or trousers properly.
Keep your money. When you look on the internet at people that use them they have all sorts of bits and pieces as well as the steamer, for example some people use a board which in itself costs money. You hang your clothes on the board in a vertical position and then steam away. What is all that about, it makes the job even more difficult.
Wont make your ironing any easier or less time consuming, wont even steam a seam in trousers. At a push they are okay if you have loads of silk or delicate fabrics but to be honest mine went into the boiler room and has only just been taken out to check the brand name for this reply. It will go straight back into the boiler room before OH comes home so I dont get "the look" again for wasting so much money. Invest in a good iron/ironing board and ironing board cover.
You may see them in shops being used but the chances are their finished attempy may be okay but to steam something yourself and then wear it is a completely different story, i think you may want to finish things off with a proper iron.0
