Nearly Payday

For most of us that get paid at the end of the month - not long to go! :j

How has everyone managed? It seems so long ago since i was last paid.

But, i've managed better than what i thought. Cancelling a few DDs from my account has helped, im back at work full time so am really looking foward to this months wages - it'll be 4x what i used to bring home per month! And because im working more hours im entitled to WTC, so a bit more money monthly for me.

Was really suprised when i checked my account today and have nearly £400 to last me until next week, so i paid 3 credit cards that have arrived this week. It made a change for me to be able to pay them the day they arrived. I still plan on making my normal payment like i would of done on payday anyway.

For once im actually excited when i hear the post coming through the door, a sound i used to dread! Im disappointed when i dont have any CC bills though as i love getting them now, seeing how much i've got left to pay and working out what i can pay off this month and what my total debt it.

  • I have £20 to last me until next Thursday. It doesn't feel good, but I had the one off expense of my glasses somewhat unexpectedly and I paid my last bill of this month this morning.

Oh well, £20 left over always beats £20 short!

Second last day of the month is payday for us, so just over a week to go!
Have loads in my account at the moment...£1785....but most of that (£1633) was a refund (finally) from npower for electricity...
Its going to pay my credit card off cause the 0% ends this month....I was supposed to have a bit more than that but had to pay the min pay on OH's work CC cause he hasn't claimed his expenses yet!!! And he's been to the dentist....
  • I get paid late next week am have £35 from selling some stuff on ebay. January is a terrible month - think they make it worse when they pay you early in December.

Money goes in on the 28th, but not doing badly - got money back from family members that was borrowed before Xmas, added to the money in the bank gives me just under £500 in the main account.

  • Woo hoo! OH got paid today - and I was budgeting for it to come next week, so big bumper payment to the cc today - which will cut down the daily interest :j, only two more months to go and we'll be free!

I have to admit I go over our budget with him on a Sunday evening once the kids are in bed and he gets told what his balance should be at the end of the week. He overspends by £5 or so most weeks, but I don't "allow" him much to start with, so I'm happy. Car insurance is due this weekend too, so the money is sitting ready and waiting for the best deal we can get!

Just redone our budgets for the next two years, and if we keep being as tight with cash as we currently are, there would be £9k sat in savings by end of next year     where did our money used to go? (excessive rent we couldn't afford, and a lot of rubbish, I know!) Hooray for MSE - I'd never have got my bum in gear and sorted our money without it!

get paid on 31st of this month but im £100 over drawn and ive got to pay for my road tax as well so it looks like february will be a lean month for me as well .......... :( But i am going to try harder!!
Savings Total so far for 2023: £8,062.58
  • Get paid on 31st also and I’ll only be getting half my monthly pay because I just finished 2 weeks jury duty and was losing money every day just from being there.

I’ll have to dip into the £1k overdraft but thankfully it is interest free :j
