  • "yes the linking has been extended to 6 months providing (as on all 4RR's that information is still the same) and we go on the ritys starting in january not april.

doesnt matter if it cont or IB,"

Sorry, new to this board and not familiar with all the abbreviations yet.

does ritys = relevant income tax years ?

    how about 4RR ?

its the abbreviations we use at work, i didnt think, sorry :)

yes RITYS are relevant income tax years

and 4RR or 4RR(E) is the claim form JSA4RR - for making a Rapid Reclaim within the linking period.
  • Thank you for clarifying.

Presumably a brief claim for JSAcb ending mid October 2008 should therefore be linked with a new claim for JSAib ?

Would that also mean that the 13 week waiting period for Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI) has also been satisfied due to the linking - i.e. no need to wait a further 13 weeks ?

you wont of claimed mortgage help on cont based, did you complete form for assistance??

edit: i would need more information on your claim such as :
    *single/couple?
    * when you originally made the claim did you apply for jsa IB or just C ? (if you applied for IB and were ent to JSA C, and single, the cont would superseed the IB.
    * If you did apply for IB did you complete the mortgage forms?

  • Many thanks for the quick reply again.

October - couple - therefore only qualified for JSA CB

Now - single - able to claim JSA IB and therefore in theory SMI

When should the claim for SMI start ?

The full Mortgage interest help will start 13 weeks from making the IB claim.

i can see where you were coming from in the last post relating to linking,
E.g if you had a 2 week IB claim in Oct and at the time applied for mrtg help, and then made a new claim to IB in Jan, you would still have 11 weeks to go for full ent.
  • Thanks for all your help again.

Wasn't made aware that you could claim SMI with previous brief JSA CB claim.

Even now have been advised that can't claim SMI until new JSA IB claim has been approved.

    Is this correct ?

Initial interview at the jobcentre earlier in the week but they seemed very hazy about SMI

the form should go in with the IB claim and once the IB claim has been processed it will be passed to mortgage section they will check and contact you.
I know in our BDC, we have been told by management that customers who have had letters telling them that they are about to be repo'd are to have their forms passed to mortgages to be delt with asap! If you are in this situation get a copy of the letter from bank etc and get the job centre to get the BDC to action it with high priority
  • Thank you very much.

No arrears (yet) on the mortgage but not able to borrow any more to cover any further payments so will start to default within a week or so.

Explained this at the jobcentre interview but was told still could not claim for SMI yet until the JSA IB claim was approved.

Another complicating factor - managed to get some work, currently around £70 per week for 12 hours.

This takes me over the £60.50 + £5.00 disregard threshold but advised that claim for JSA IB would continue but the payment would be £0.00 due to the earnings.

    Is this actually correct ?

If so, does it mean that NI stamp will be paid due to JSA IB as earnings too low otherwise ?

Finally to clarify I presume the 13 week wait for SMI assistance starts from the beginning of the new claim for JSA IB this month ?

It won't be delayed further by the £70 per week earnings ?
  • On the mortgage interest issue, what happens if I'm receiving that now (been on CB JSA for over 13 weeks), but work temporarily for a few months - do I then need to wait another 13 weeks to get it, or will it be linked to the previous period on JSA?
