Accountant subbited paper account but ive got a letter saying I must do it online?

Ive got a letter from hmrc saying that I must submit my accounts online by the 31st of Jan or I will get a fine but my accountant has submitted them via paper at the end of october, is this a standard letter that gets sent out or am in a spot of bother?

    I would check with the accountant. If he's done them, and they weren't received they should easily be doable online by the accountant, I would've thought?

    I'd agree that you need to check with your accountant. Just because you've had a reminder doesn't mean HMRC havn't received the tax return - some offices are notoriously slow in dealing with incomming post - it should be date stamped when it is received, but then could take several weeks before being logged onto their systems. Worse still is that they pre-prepare some of their mailshots in advance, so even though the date on it may be, say 15 December, it may have actually been generated several days (or weeks) earlier, as HMRC post is batched and produced centrally which does have a lead time.
