  • wow seems a lot of hatred against the lottery!!

although they do seem to do fewer big money games where the total is a guaranteed 8 million. sign of the times?

I had 5 numbers a few years ago, it was a shared line with my step-dad and we had around 3k each. I do a line every week and win the odd £10, think I have had my lucky day!

For the regular "Player" I think the fear is more that if they stop putting their pound on every weeekend, it will be sods law their numbers will come up that same week!! Wouldn't that just be the worst thing!!

With regards pools. not sure if it's the same but my little bro does the thing in the bookies where you have to pick 6 or 8 or 10 teams to win and if you get them all right you can win a nice little sum. He's won everything from £800ish to over £2000... (You don't have to guess the scores, just if the team will win) You obviously have to follow the forms of the teams playing and it's not always a dead cert as anyone who follows football will know. if any of the teams loose or draw. thats it, you loose!! last year I recon he won 4 or 5 times.... not bad for a £5 or £10 bet on a Saturday

  • my aunt won nearly £98,000 about 10 years ago, 5 numbers and the bonus ball, It came at a time when she needed it, her husband had recently died and she was living in a flat struggling to bring up three kids, so she bought a house with it!

My hubby spent about £4 on the lottery last year, and won £90 just before Xmas.

I've had £100 in premium bonds for approx 12 years and won £50.

  • Got 5 numbers a few years back and won £2400, other than that just the odd £10 but my hairdresser won £189,000. They say more people win who have selected their own numbers than those who choose the lucky dip.

I have a mate who got 5 numbers up. His sixth number was one away from the drawn 6th number.
    Wasn't even the bonus ball.
I think he got about two grand for the five numbers.
Jackpot was 2 or 3 million.
