Can someone give me a clue as to how I can use promotion codes that give discounts on Thomson internet booking site.

I believe you can only use promotion codes when booking a package holiday. If you are booking hotels/flights separately (which works out a lot cheaper) you cannot use codes.

My question really is, where on the booking form is there provision to enter the promotion code?

There's a discount code box half way down on the payment details screen (if you are booking a package). Before booking have a look at Portland Direct site. Same holidays are usually cheaper!
