Hello-i'm going to do one thing at a time as if i try to do too much i panick and end up doing hardly anything!!

First aim-get the hoover out (this may sound bad but im lucky if it gets done once a week so far, elliot keeps me too busy).

Second aim-try to remember the poor hamster and get her cleaned out ore often!

I now sound like a terrible wife lol......I do manage daily loads of washing, wash/sterilise and make up bottles, wash up dishes and general tidying up...oh and these days i do manage to clean my teeth lol (having a baby turned my life upside down!!).

    keely.

There is no judgment here you do not sound like a terrible wife at all...having a young baby is a lot of work (btw my lo is 1 and I still only hoover once a week unless the place is looking particularly in need ;))

I have a question for you all, what's on your MUST DO EVERY DAY list of jobs? I'm trying to finalise mine and I really need to get into the habit of doing it!

My must do list is pretty basic - it's one I generated a couple of years ago when I was following the flylady system (before I found the more straightforward flylady thread here...). It's basically as follows:

    Get showered and dressed
    Load of washing
    Breakfast, M and I
    Make sandwiches
    Feed cat
    Unload dishwasher
Dress M and set out night clothes
    Make beds
    Swish and swipe bathroom
    Hang out washing
Get washing in, fold and put away (or to ironing pile)
    Do we need bread?
    Bins/recycling

Written down it looks really involved, but mostly can be done in well under an hour, once you're on auto-pilot. Obviously it's quite specific to our routine, but gives an idea. I also add other things into this list of essentials - ie. Monday and Thursday are the days I change the towels, Tuesday is when I do the menu plan, Wednesday is usually the Tesco shop, Ironing gets done on Mondays and Fridays. I pick up other tasks from the OS flylady thread. I tend to print lists out rather than rely on checking back on the computer each day because otherwise I get sidetracked by the PC. It is evil.

    Hope that helps

  • Interesting about the must do list

My sink is shiny (started today with flylady), lol
Kitchen always has to be reasonable and I do washing up after breakfast, after lunch, and as I go while I am cooking and then after dinner.
Kitchen surfaces have to be clean
    Feed cats
Wash a load of washing, put washing away
    Make beds
Clean bathroom sink and toilet (usually while DD brushes her teeth)
    Tidy DD's room
    Cook dinner
Check fridge for things that need using up
Make DH's sandwiches for the next day
Put all the toys away in the evening after DD gone to bed, hoover if necessary

No you'd think my house is spotless but it's not, unfortunately!!!

Keelykat, I only hoover once a week if I'm lucky :) I do have a small baby but I only did it this often before too. Our upstairs hardly ever gets done, but we don't use it much except obviously to sleep, plus our carpet upstairs is a much more forgiving brown fleck! :D

I have been fairly productive today, have done all my daily tasks (except go for a walk- will have to walk doubly far tomorrow):

    Dishwasher,
    fold dry washing,
    Hang wet washing to dry,
    put new load in,
dressed me and babe, (even put my make up on as going to a party today :))
    put out PJ's for DD,
nightime routine (baby now sleeping :) )
    Quick tidy living room/ kitchen,

Plus I baked cupcakes (yum!) did hoovering, payed monthly debt payment over the phone, swept floors, made a batch of food to freeze for DD and went to a lovely teaparty!! Phew! I'm going to make my to do list for tomorrow and then off to bed!!

Hello everyone and welcome to all the new posters!

I have a question for you all, what's on your MUST DO EVERY DAY list of jobs? I'm trying to finalise mine and I really need to get into the habit of doing it!

My every day list is clean the loo, pour some bleach down, clean kitchen work tops with antibacterial spray (actually i do this bout five times per day), vacume thru the living room, kitchen, hallway and bathroom (this all on the same floor), wash and put away pots, make beds, tidy bedrooms, clean potty, put clothes in drawers which have come out of the dryer and don't need ironing. oh and empty bin if its over flowing.
    One Happy Mummy! :D

  • Evening All

Good to see so many people on board :)

I've had a pretty productive day today as I've managed to do a couple of things off my next week to do list, I've sorted the pile of paperwork and found homes for DD's new xmas present Yay :j .

My Must do's everyday are probably something like this.....

Make bed as I get out of it
Washed, make up on and dressed
    Eat a proper breakfast
    Empty dishwasher
Put washer load in and get dry on radiators and put away (I don't anything)
Sort evening meal in morning (get whatever out of freezer, get casserole ready in morning if poss)
Make packed lunch for DH the night before
Constantly try to keep up with clutter before it turns into a bomb site
Get DD to help put away her toys before bedtime routine
Whatever is on my Must do cleaning list!

Really need to sort out a meal plan tomorrow and take the xmas decs down. Wishing everyone a productive Sunday :)

I started reading this thread on new years day and have continued reading since then.

You have all inspired me. This is the year my family get organised.

I have broken my tasks down into every day things and then weekly things on specific days.
    So :
    Every morning
    Open blinds,
    Make Beds,
    Put washer on,
    Water veggies.
    Every Evening
Wash dishes and have none left in the sink,
    Make bottles up,
Load washing machine ready for next morning (much easier when 1 year old isn't pulling the clothes back out),
    Put clothes away,
    Tidy toys up.
    Mondays
Banking/Post office - as needed. (am)
    Hoover living room (nap time)
Clean mirrors and windows (nap time)
    Go for a walk (pm)
    Tuesdays
    Declutter Kitchen table (am)
    Hoover upstairs (nap time),
    Clean bathroom (nap time)
Visit local Wacky warehouse (free on tuesdays)
    Wednesdays
Declutter top of the fridge (am)
    Clean wc (am)
    Crafting/gardening with the girls (pm)
    Thursdays
    Tidy our bedroom (nap time)
    Dust (am)
    Clean Fridge (am)
Feed the ducks (every other week)
    Fridays
    Brush stairs (nap time)
    Tidy girls rooms (am)
Visit the park or friends house (pm)
    Saturdays
    Day off visiting parents
    Sundays
Paperwork (tidying post away, paying bills -pm)
    Meal plan (pm)

Things like shopping and ironing I will fit in as and when the girls let me.
I also need to find time to do my exercise dvd's and sewing (might need an extra couple of hours in the day).
I am trying to aim to have the next days clothes ready for the girls so that it's not as much of a rush in the morning and if it isn't as much of a rush it will enable us to walk to school/nursery more.
Okay I'm off to look up some meal plans now.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Here it is....
    - make soup, to use up all the veg in the fridge, in the slow cooker overnight.
    That's a really good idea.

Feel a lot better now, thank you!

I like the idea of writing down what needs to be done daily, will have a think about that in a bit when i get a few minutes.

    Good morning all!
You will be impressed to hear that I got up before 9 a.m. this morning
This is what I've done so far ...

Cleaned fridge before Tesco order gets here
Chucked leeks and sweet potato into slow cooker to make soup for tomorrow evening
    Cleaned both bathrooms
OH and children taking down decs / Christmas cards / putting them away
Picture hooks out for all those pictures that should have gone up on the walls AGES ago
Updated address book so I can throw away all those scrappy bits of paper
Written nursery / school dinner cheques for the term
    Cleaned and shined sink!
Had a coffee and a chat with a neighbour
Played with kids ... made a snowman and a jigsaw puzzle and tried to thrash them at pacman

Still no school work ... will start that after lunch

Aim also to have some kind of system up and runnign ... am reading through your threads for inspiration!
    That's Numberwang!
