im suprised that they havent given you any advice to help you out until you speak to them.

Firstly, is your main account part of the problem ie overdraft. I was advised to open a new account with a different bank.

Secondly contact the people you owe money to and explain the situation. Inform them that you are going to work things out via the CCCS and that in the mean time will be making token payments.

Thirdly it might be an idea to post a list of income/outgoings. (sorry if you have already done this on a ifferent post) there may be others that can help trim the expense.

Have you tried CCCS online advice? It's called Debt Remedy and it's fab! You put all your info into it (you can take as long as you need to to put it into their system, even go back again and again over several days as I did) and it gives you your advice there and then. Here's a tip as well - if you're on that system and you get stuck or have a problem, there's a number you can ring there and then and speak to a counsellor. You have to put the info in but they'll talk you through the advice and everything.

    Good luck

I used payplans online service, I was called in less than 24 hours ( Saturday) and I have an appointment at the end of this week. They might be worth a call instead of cccs.
  • Hi,

I went to Payplan and had an appointment the same week, give them a try :)

Don't really want to be giving 17% to a company who does a similar thing :(

Please don't be tempted to go to a fee-paying company even though I understand how you must be feeling right now!

I've been on a DMP with the CCCS for almost a year now. It's been brilliant - and once it settled down after a couple of months, I've had no hassle from creditors (apart from a minor glitch with the Nationwide which got sorted). Every penny I give them goes to my creditors rather than lining the pockets of some debt company.

Do try the CCCS' online debt remedy if you can't wait for the February appointment. I set my DMP up this way. While I waited for the paperwork from the CCCS, I wrote to all my creditors, advising them of my financial difficulties, that I had sought advice from the CCCS, and that I would be setting up a DMP.

You could write advising you're seeking advice and telling them your appointment's not until February, and include a token payment to show goodwill. You may want to consider cancelling your direct debits.

In most cases, just mentioning the CCCS was enough to get creditors off my back. Many actually recommend them - and against fee-paying companies. All have frozen interest and charges.

Good luck and very best wishes.
