I bought Martin's Book after already spending a lot of time on this site getting to grips with the things i need to do to get on top of our debts.
A lot is changing for me and hubby at the moment I am out of work in 8 weeks and we complete on our new flat tomorrow! Things should be really scary.
But... On sitting down and taking baby steps i realise even loosing my wage we can still keep clearing our debts (which makes me wonder how on earth we have been spending all this time  ) But i also know how hard this is going to be until i get a job and then until its cleared but we are determined.
I think the thing that has really helped me this last week is looking at how much i have saved and competing with each other to find the cheapest deals. I have been amazed at how much i have managed £80 this year by calling a credit card and negotiating a new interest rate, £60 on house insurance by playing them off, I have only spent £4 of the £8 I have had in my pocket since last Wednesday and I'm realising this all soon mounts up.
I no longer dread having to open my bank account and see my balance. I now accept that ignoring it doesn't help.
So i want to say thank you to everyone here who has helped me get to here and I may still only be a little way down the road, but am not sure i could have begun without this site.

Way to go. Scary isn't it when you actually work out what you need to live on and how much you were blowing in frivolity?
I'm sure you'll find something soon.0 -
I've spent nothing since Saturday afternoon (except for petrol). I've lived from the food from my cupboards and it is amazing how much you do fritter away!
Good Luck

Well done, thats excellent!! Sorry that you will be out of work - I am sure you will find something soon, but fab that you wont have the added stress of not being able to manage without your wage!!
