Does anyone know if the Acoustic Solutions DVD-263 Twin Screen In-Car DVD Player is any good?
Also if you buy it from argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5337565/Trail/searchtext%3EIN+CAR+DVD+PLAYER.htm does it come with everything I would need to get it up and running on the back of the car seats? I've reserved one already (2 left) (well one now) and just wanted to check that I don't have to pay out any more to get the system set up and running on the back of the head rests.
thanks

Whilst doing a search on these in car DVD players I came across an article on one of the newspaper websites which said that these are a safety risk in a rear end shunt.
It may have been the Daily Mail (who tend to exaggerate), but it suggested that most of these players come with inadequate straps and in the event of a rear end shunt they work there way free and crash into unsuspecting passengers. (ie no different from unsecured mobiles, sat navs or anything that isn't tied down).
DM scare mongering aside, is anyone aware of any specialist holders for these which are more than just elasticated straps or held together with a piece of velcro?0 -
yeah we have been thinking about these for our son, the only thing for us is they dont play dvdr's and we were contenplating whether to get teh more expensive ones that play different dvd's as we are expecting no2 in june & felt it may be more appropriate. Looking forward to hearing about the replys.
incidently, the one listed here has 3 reviews on the argos site0 -
Hi i have this set in my car, we bought them to drive to France earlier this year, works perfectly, no complaints, yes it does come with everything you need..btw we got ours from ebay, not argos, but its the same brand and model.0

we got a similar model (don't know if its exactly the same but looks pretty similar) a couple of years go and they have been great - kids love them except when the oldest doesn't want to watch Monsters Inc again!!!!0

We have got a different make, got it about 5 years ago came with everything we needed and find it totally invaluable especially on long journeys.0

I got one a few days ago and i really like it, my daughter is quite in the back of the car and she is 3 years old. she loves it, pictute quality is great, sound is good, many options on remote compared with other ones. Yes its plasticky but great value for money and does what you want it too.....watch DVD's. Has many accessories in the box and a very cool bag that fits everything in it.0

good value for money and excellent quality picture0

these can make kids car sick, (different brand) so don't bother if they are prone to this. One of ours can watch, the other gets sick.0

Yet another method of stuffing ones kids in front of screen to get them to keep quiet. Easy isn't it?
What ever happened to:
I Spy
ABC
Radio Game
Quiet Mouse
The picnic
A book
A bag of crayons and a colouring book.
Hang on, all this involves actually interacting with the kids, now that's no good is it?0 -

no one mentioned not interacting with their kids..we have twin screens as we travel alot, we don't take them if we are less than 3 to 4 hours in the car....and when we are in the car that long they will get one dvd (at most thats 2 hours) and the rest of the time is playing all those games you are going on about and I bet 99.9% of people are the same! Believe it or not hearing my kids wetting themselves laughing at some daft dvd is bliss when you are in the car that long!!
oh and doing a picnic IN the car is a no no...get out the car and go to a park!!You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0
