Also, can someone give me a more detailed guide as to how they can be roasted (time, heat etc)?

How long do they keep for once a packet has been opened? and/or if they have been roasted?

A few minutes in a dry pan, check, stir and give a few minutes more until toasted - I use whatever heat I'm using when cooking something else! Different types of seeds will take different times, so do separately.

Store in an airtight container and they keep for ages unroasted. Don't know roasted - they've always gone to quick!

Try toasting sunflower seeds(or any others)in a pan-watch like a hawk, they burn easily. When they're toasty splash on some soy sauce.

I'm finding it impossible to find a packet of sunflower seeds that DOES NOT have this written on it 'this product may contain traces of nut as it has been packaged in a factory where nuts are processed' or similar.

Can anyone help? Dd is not allergic to seeds why can't she eat them? :(

Thanks everyone, gues there's only way to find out if i'll like them now ;)
  • Hi everyone. My first post, so I hope it works!! Have recently changed to a healthier eating diet and am having great fun with all the new recipes we're trying out :T . Apart from all the fruit and veg that we are now getting through, we are also visiting Julian Graves for lots of nuts, seeds and dried fruit. Does anyone know where I could perhaps get these things elsewhere at a cheaper price.

    Thanks in anticipation.

  • Hi Nutty

Welcome to OS. I tend to stock up on nuts and seeds from Holland and Barret when they are on BOGOF. Sometimes I buy from our local asian store.

I buy from my local Asian store - I find it much cheaper than anywhere else for nuts, seeds, pulses & rice.
Your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or other loan secured on it.
