I think the next election is the best chance for producing a parliament with no overall majority since 1992. If the Tories achieve the same progress as they did in 2005 and the Lib Dems pick up seats from Labour too then no one party will have enough seats to form a government on their own and the Liberal Democrats might have some power.

Until the last election, the Lib Dems were part of the Scottish Government.
