Hi,
Can anyone tell me what information a creditor can legally ask for please?
I have a debt collection company asking for complete breakdowns of what I pay into a pension and the obvious ones like income and expenditure etc..
Any help most appreciated
Thanks

Ask them to show their P60 or wage slip, then you may THINK about disclosing PERSONAL information.
They have NO right to such information, tell them to **** off
Tell them, only if your instructed by a court will you show such informationClick here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

If you are trying to negotiate a payment plan with them on a reduced payment to what you have been paying then I think it is fair that you share with them what your income and expenditure is so that you can show that you have been reasonable in the event they try to take it further (you would have to do this on a DMP if you went down that route anyway).
DO NOT let them try to tell you to stop paying into your pension, for them to even request it would be bang out of order.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

If you're already on a payment plan with anyone, then ALL your creditors / DCAs would have received an I&E.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
