Just wondering if it would be possible to return some sweatshirts to Primark with no receipt. They were a xmas gift but do not fit. Any experiences? Cheers!

I believe so though you may get a credit note not the cash (IIRC)0

This is what I've found;
Despite what you may think or assume, retailers are under no obligation to provide refunds or exchanges on items that are simply unwanted. Many shops will but will perhaps only do this within a specified time limit which will differ between shops (so check carefully). However, with some items such as DVDs and CDs where the seal is broken, you are unlikely to get any joy. Generally, your chances of securing a refund are much higher if the item is in all its original tags and packaging. If the gift was bought with a debit or credit card, any refund will normally only be credited back to the cardholder. It may be easier to opt for an exchange or ask the gift giver whether they can exchange it for you.
You're unlikely to get a cash refund - and in some cases even an exchange or credit note without a receipt. This can prove difficult with Christmas gifts unless a forward thinking present giver has kept the receipt for this purpose. If the receipt is nowhere to be found then the retailer might accept sight of your bank or credit card statement as proof of purchase but it's their call.

Sounds like its at the shops discretion but they don't have to do anything unless its faulty.0 -
All stores usually accept returns without receipt over the Christmas period, but do not take this as norm as most stores have thier own Christmas returns policy seperate to the usual returns. Note that returns without receipt are for exchange only...Primark are accepting returns in London without receipt, this is for a limited time only and theres a sign at the customer service desk area statiing this.0

if you are lucky enough for Primark to allow you to return goods without the receipt you will only get refunded what the goods are on sale for at the time of return, so if they are in the sale yu will only get the sale price refunded/credited. There is a sign saying so over the customer services desk.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Until the end of January they will accept returns without a receipt and will let you exchange for the current selling price.
Be warned - Primark slash their prices erratically and different branches have different reductions.Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

I used to work for Primark on their returns desk the usual was no recipt no refund, exchange only and that would be the current selling price and not what may have been paid for it orginally. Good luck the queues were often the length of the shop!!!!!!

Thank you all for your replies. I was actually at a friends house and was showing her this wonderful site, when she asked me about the primark thing. I posted the question a) to get the info and b) just to show her how it worked.
