  • You need to get yourself a converter as ipod uses MP4. If you type "ipod movie converter" into google you find loads of them. I recommend xilisoft or videora both of which are free and easy to use.

For Windows, you can find a tutorial here.

For Mac users, HandBrake is all you need.

Or try DVD Catalyst it costs a few $s but there is a fully featured trial version - it does it all in one hit, from DVD to MP4 - all you then need to do is add to iTunes and tag - the best thing about DVD Cat is that it has conversion profiles for shed loads of decent players rather than style over substance players from Apple.

OK rant over - iPods do do a OK job and if you do need to do DVDs in one hit then this is a good prog.

Next rant - The entertainment industry has now accepted the fact that we rip our legitimate music CDs to portable players in packages such as iTunes, but the same companies are still place barriers to do the same for our legit DVDs

I would hardly say that an iPod Touch is "style over substance"; how many DAPs let you browse MSE, check your emails, play Sim City and listen to Last FM all while sitting on the toilet? (there's a mental image for you!)

What's with all the Apple hate on here lately?

I've seen quite a few movies which come with an mp4 version to put on those horrible iPods. Another example of how they lack substance I guess. ;)

My fiancee is always calling it my "iTouch"; I try to correct her, but it makes no difference. lol
  • Thanks for all the suggestions, I must admit to calling it itouch - will try harder!
