Hitachi 8" Digital Photo Frame - Comet

Comet are selling an 8 inch high resolution 800x600 digital photo frame in store (Farnborough) for £49-99, which is excellent value (given the resolution). I'm very impressed so far with the one I bought.

Jessops had one for £36 a few weeks ago when I got a 7" one as a pressie... that is a good price for a branded one though, and if I wanted one myself, I'd go for it.

I doubt if the brands mean anything - they will all be knocked out by Digital Photo Factory Number 39 in Hunan Province.

Friends and rellies are more than pleased with the 3 unbranded 7" ones I bought the other week for £19.99 each inc delivery from eBuyers eBay shop

I agree. However, I find that people particularly seem to appreciate brands when given pressies!

I got a Proline 8" photoframe from Comet for the Mother-in-Law for Xmas. It was £48.79(ish) and came with a remote control. It doesn't seem to be onsite now (it was there yesterday) but if you see one in store it is a great piece of kit.
The box looks a bit cheap, but the picture quality is superb. You can pause slideshows, zoom in on the photos, rotate them etc. all with the remote. MIL is well pleased - and I get lots of points in the Brownie Points bank :)
I would suggest that if you want a decent photoframe you spend the bit extra and get one that has at least 800x600 resolution - the lower resolution models really are very poor.

I bought a BT eFrame Wireless 8" High Resolution from the BT Shop for £63.60 reduced from £129.99. Very impressed with it so far, streaming photos from my PC upstairs with superb image quality. Also plays MP3s and takes a wide range of memory cards if you don't have a wireless network. Highly recommended.

Better still 10% Quidco which brings the price down to £57.24. Still available:

that reminds me the 10" one I saw in currys had wifi and was Kodak. By the way BT shop is the same as dabs.com and most items are on both - I know they send people loyalty vouchers my email every so often from dabs so if you have that worth checking if the dabs brand site sells it too, as well as using cashback sites like quidco that feature dabs

Well that's awfully ungrateful of them. Sod them if they don't like what they're given and get them a pair of socks next year, with a brand if that's what they want.

These photo frames seem to be extraordinarily over-priced for what you get.

As someone said earlier, they all probably come from a single sweatshop factory in China where workers are paid ultra poverty wages and are thousands of miles away from family and friends. If we indulge in the brand game we do no honour to the people who make them and simply put undeserved money in the pockets of the owners and exploiters, including the crooks who run China.

The best thing to do is pay as little as possible, knowing that the novelty will end and prices willl fall. If ebuyer can make a profit on £20 then that is probably a fair enough price. £50 and more just because it's got a daft wee brand sticker on it is simply rewarding the mafia.
