Asda book return

Not sure if this is on the right board, so mods please feel free to move.
My sister bought me a book for Christmas from Asda, but unfortunately someone else also bought me the same book. It is wrapped in cellophane, so you can tell it hasn't been read, but I don't have the receipt. I know I could ask her for the receipt, but don't want to hurt her feelings.
Anyone know whether Asda would let me exchange without a receipt ?

It's got to be worth a try. At least with Asda you could always buy food or something if they won't give an actual refund. Let us know how you get on.0

Thanks everyone, I took it back this afternoon, and they changed it with no trouble - the fact it was still wrapped in cellophane may have made a difference, but they were brilliant :TYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever
