hey i have sleep aponea - thats why i stay up to give oh a chance to get to sleep first lol

Isn't that potentially dangerous? Do you know what causes yours, sometimes there are things that can help, operations, devices, diets, natural remedies etc.

tried the "device" lol a full face mask that forces air into you - took ages to fall asleep cos of noise then i ripped the mask off in my sleep, there is op but not too bad at mo and yes can be nasty as you do stop breathing and dont get proper sleep - you sort of wake up a bit when your breathing stops so am always cream crackered, can cause heart probs etc too - another reason why I'm doing the "diet" too lol
Happy with any wins this year :A

What d'you do at Uni Sally? Always wanted to do that in my life that never quite happened. Sometimes I feel like Brando in On the Waterfront "I coulda bin a contender!".

Would still love to do a degree, studied three/four years ago and got something which was equivalent to three a levels in a year, which I was proud of being alone with the two kids and no money. It boosted my self esteem, but I know there is way too much going on right now for me to dedicate myself to study. Maybe part time or distance. Mind you, aren't all students part time?!?!?! LOL

I do BSc social work, in 2nd year of 3 year course. I'm 19 and one of the youngest on the course. There are 150 student on my course altogether, and most are married, with kids...even some grandparents!!!
So its never too late for you!!!! ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: It is true student are PT, i mean since September I've only had lectures Thursdays and Fridays 10-3!!!
But from March placment starts, so gonna be 5days a week then!!

Don't just giveup, if you really want to do it...take the plunge...pick a course that interests you and you'l stay motivated!!! :o xx

  • Sally, that's a brave course you have taken on hun. We need good people like you doing that job. Promise me you will always have the courage and strength of your convictions, don't be afraid to stick your head above the parapet for what you feel is right and true. Don't fall victim to the domino effect of following on from the opinion of those before you, go on instinct and you can do great things.

People like you can change lives - use your position wisely and keep love in your heart. It is so much more than a job and the bureaucracy I am sure can crush you, but never forget the little people like me who will be dependant on you.

I wish you great luck with your course. :A

Awww. Thats so sweet of you.

Its a long time since anyone said anything good to me when i told them what course i'm doing.

I'm always told the jobs too easy, we get paid for nothing and social workers are a waste of space because they just let children die. (Gets me so angry. What about the hundreds of kids that are saved each year...also i'm only a student, so don't take your anger out on me, i wasn't involved in the case of child abuse in London or wherever! )

Sorry about the rant...since the case of the baby P social worker we all got a bad reputation and there have even been some stu**d people who have taken their anger out physically/verbally on people on my course, who weren't even involved!!

Anyway, I take your kind words on board!!!:p
I want to specialise in working with older adults or disabled people hopefully! :T

My God. Stressed. You stunned me with what you said. I have never been able to do just that in real text. Saying as it is. and what many more of us want to say but dont know the words. May the Force of the language stay with you and enhance our understanding. Yes thats deep but keep talking. I can only do it in prose but never like that. Credit to you xxxxx
