Hey guys, sorry if wrong forum.
my OH wants to buy a corner sofa to increase our seating space. We have seen 3 sofa so far that we like.
One in Harveys for £999 (http://www.harveysfurniture.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?pID=2016&sID=1040)
2 in DFS one for £799 (http://www.dfs.co.uk/sofas/corner-groups/precision/191/2797/0) another £1049 (http://www.dfs.co.uk/sofas/corner-groups/cordova/191/2750/0/all)
I am tempted by the one in harveys as it seems better built but I am wondering if any of these shops will allow me to haggle on price etc in these tuff times.
I would at least expect Harveys to give free del as I have purchased my previous sofa there and we got that last time.
What would you say is a relastic price to haggle for? I would prefer to buy one of the dearer ones as they seem to be better built.

I'd say it is entirely reasonable to haggle (particularly with Furniture retailers) at the moment. Realistically you are actually doing them a favour given all the companies going to the wall. Just be careful how you pay... prob best to avoid 0% interest free deals or cash and use a credit card instead.Hey guys, sorry if wrong forum.

I'd say 10%+ and free delivery.0 -
DFS won't go down on the price of the sofa, you may get free delivery though. There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0

I got a corner sofa (leather with fabric cushions) for £570 from land of leather in their clearance sale.
It looks a bit like this:
http://www.landofleather.co.uk/Products/Leather/Designer/The_Raphael/ViewRange.aspx
It was advertised for £600 but I took out the stupid insurance thing they sell to you and said to him "I'll have the insurance if you knock £50 off the price of the sofa" and we settled at £30. I could have haggled him down more but it was my first time and I was scared
I cancelled the insurance within the 14 days cancellation period
I'm not sure about delivery as we had access to a van so we went back to pick it up the same day.0 -
Cheers guys and girls
I def give it a shot as I don't think the two sofa in DFS are worth a bit less than they want. Also claim double discount but we been looking at same sofa since summer and still same price lol.0 -
