q. When is a bargain not a bargain?
a. when it's been reduced from its normal price to a tiny fraction thereof...
... and it turns out you could have predicted the price was STILL more than you could afford but you went ahead and bought it anyway because of all the hype, the frenetic sales ambiance and the thought it might never be available at that price again...

This is where good old common sense comes in handy. Never buy anything you can't afford, end of story.
Clearly a bargain is not a bargain if you weren't going to buy it in the first place. Sales shopping can rarely be called "saving money" more, at it's best, providing a good "value to money spent" ratio...0 -
Yep. That M&S Xmas luxury hamper at £999 reduced to £500 was tempting me. What a bargain!0

Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research

...well everytime I'm on the "..grab it now" board my OH asks me if I'm on the "shopaholic" board again... I'm inclined to agree!! ...I'd have saved myself £100's by just not looking at the "..grab it now" board!! lolIf you don't want to know my opinion, don't ask for it!0

heres something far-fetched to think about.
originally a money saving board, as the member base increased astronomically, this is the perfect place for companies to advertise their so called 'sales'!!
they can dupe you into thinking youre getting a bargain! i bet theres loads of members who work for these companies, posting their preferred company sales making out its a once in a lifetime offer!
as many will agree, some who are too ashamed to ever admit, they are or have been in the same boat as you, hazel.0 -
This is my pet hate - you can normally sense when someone is flogging their own stuff but not always.heres something far-fetched to think about.
