we've bought two in the past and found the ones that can eventually become a booster as well to be brilliant(because we wont need to shop again). we have a graco and a mamas and papas though we prefer the graco as the buckle on m&p is always more difficult they are both same shape very padded and comfy with harness on and then as child grows you have a different strap fitting to make seatbelt fit diagonally, hope this makes sense! then eventually they will be boosters. best to keep them in harness as long as possible for safety my eldest was in it until three+ the m&p one is also a rearward facing as again it is recommended you keep rear facing as long as possible for safety it is clumsy when rear facing (unlike the first carseats) and compared to when forward positioned but very safe we used ours rear facing for a while! hope this is a help!0

I strongly advise you to go to the Britax website and check out the best seat for your car using their seat finder guide.
http://www.britax.co.uk/
Not all seat fit into all cars securely.
Once you have found their recommendation, then look for the best price on the web.
Obviously there are other seat manufacturers but Britax do supply this service and work with the Police in ensuring good fitting seats for vehicles.

that is correct not all seats fit all cars we had that problem Halfords fit the wrong carseat in our car we went to one branch and bought it after the man took ages to fit it then on the way home it was wobbly so we went to another halfords branch to get it sorted out and they checked the manual and said the carseat was not the correct fitting for our car its all to do with buckle crunching so be careful cos even the 'experts' get it wrong we thought halfords were so safety concious but our baby was put in a seat wobbling all over the place if we hadnt have thought anything of it who knows what might have happened and we went to Halfords because they are meant to be carseat fitters!!!. the seat in question was the britax first cruiser and no others would fit anyway we'd tried mothercare and halfords and there was no choice really! but i recommend the ones weve got as i stated in my previous post they dont have a big frame or base to them. good luck!0

Many thanks for your reply. I will check on Britax site.So far fitting is concerned I am confused !0 -
Britax and Maxi Cosi are usually rated among the safest car seats in tests.
I've got the Maxi Cost Priori which has been great, but Britax are usually fine too,
Think you will find this site useful:

Tons of useful stuff for parents on this site...the forums are good there too!
For fitting, try to find and independent local baby store which will advise you and let you try a seat in your car before buying.
If you're anywhere near East Sussex, Frills All Round in Uckfield are very good. Duncans in Tunbridge Wells are also good.
Good luckAh! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.0 -
dont worry it is confusing when you go into mothercare thinking like i did oh i love the velour maxi cosi one over there or the fleecy checked designer looking one and then are told you cant have it as they dont fit a ford escort which is a common car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!at least you know from us what to expect!!!!!!!! we had to go from shop to shop trying them it was a nightmare so dont worry you will find one!!! i do think Halfords should have been more careful though and i never did get round to writing to them!
if in doubt go for the ones like i did without the stand!0
