Just a thought but if cash is tight have you thought about asking on your local freecycle.org0

What type of riding are you going to be doing? I would think that bike would be dire, will get you fit either because it is soooo heavy and the suspension uses up all your energy or because it will break and you will have to carry it!0

If it is the Trax Fearless you are looking at then DON'T. You would need to be fearless to ride it !! The original price is completely made up. It weighs a ton and is a complete waste of money. If you are looking in Halfords then the Carrera Vulcan at £199.99 or Subway at £184.99 is really the entry level for a bike as opposed to a pile of heavy metal0

Excellent advice, any cheap full 'suspension' bike simply has a spring wedged between two plates and has absolutely no damping whatsover. Stick to a hardtail. you should be able to pick up a carrera vulcan or kraken cheapily on forums if you cant stretch to the instore price. singletrackworld.com might be a good place to start, or retrobike.co.uk0 -
I would take another look at your old bike, what needs replacing, repairing etc. It's not that hard to renovate a bicycle and parts are very cheap, as long as you don't go too upmarket.
A local independent bike shop is a better option for spares than Halfords, as they no longer stock a good range of bearings, cables etc. And have become quite expensive IMOP.
Independent shops often have good bikes they have taken in part exchange, pop in and ask.
Another option would be to find a good secondhand bike. Most bikes are ridden once and then sit in the shed for ten years. Local papers are a good source, or Friday Ads, if it is in your area: http://www.friday-ad.co.uk/0 -
