Hi Guys,
Finally realised that our debt will not miraculously disappear so am seriously going to try and cut down, especially on food. A guesstimate of what we spend in sainsburys per month currently is £400 but TBH I think that this could be higher due to fact I pop out for bread and come back with two shopping bags full of cr*p and normally no bread  .
Please can you add Current Spend £400 - Target Spend for Jan £300.
Over £100 of this is on nappies, baby milk and baby snacks so I'm not sure that I can really cut this but I should in theory be able to feed my husband and myself for £200 per month, just started slimming world :A yesterday so hopefully it'll be a lot cheaper to live off of Pasta and Jackets rather than biscuits and jarred sauces for curries and stuff!
Am very new to all of this and the site in general. So please can anyone let me know where I need to post my results, looked through a lot of the replies on here but there are just too many and I am confusing myself.
Cheers folks and good luck to one and allJanuary Grocery Challenge - Budget £300 Spent £1220 -

Welcome to Moneysavingexpert and welcome to this thread
You post your updates on what you have spent on here and then at end of your month you declare on here what you have spent over the whole month.
Wishing you lots of luck on trying to get your grocery bill down - know how you feel with buying lots of baby stuff - I had my two 17months apart but they are now 3 and 4 but still in nappies a night.

Back to work today and just realised nearly out of toothpaste and will need to get a few other toiletries, but I'll have a check around to see where is cheapest. Will be trying not to buy anything extra as I have a habit of popping into the supermarkets when I finish work as they reduce their food at 7pm and we don't need anything really.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650

How many babies is the £100 pcm for ?
Could you reduce this by making your own snacks for them ? I buy DS some ready-made snacks using my Boots advantage points but a lot of the time he gets home made stuff. Babies and toddlers don't need a lot of the things that the manufacturers try to tell us they do! I am not sure the child(ren) age(s) but once they reach 6 months whole milk can be used in cooking and once they reach 12 months they can drink that (i.e. no need for formula). Also purees can be made easily and cheaply and they can have a pureed version of what you are having (as long as you don't add salt to theirs and of course not pureed pizza and chips lol). They can also have finger foods of bread, pittas, homemade hummus etc. Other ways to save money include using real nappies, or cheap ones from Lidl if you don't want washing, real wipes (a towel cut in strips and use warm water or water/olive oil/bubble bath mix) or cheap stores own or BOGOF offer wipes. hth.
