Retail Discounts

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

I work for one of the UK's leading electrical retailers, and i like a bit of competition from the other retailers around, keeps costs down in the "price war" and makes better special offers.

But just a small note to the shoppers out there, its great that everyone is careful, and that people like to "shop around" for the best deal, however i would like to make a serious point.

Please STOP walking in to stores and demanding huge discounts especially on items already discounted by large amounts like £100-£300+ as most of the time retailers cant do this, i am sick of being insulted by people whom i personally work very hard for to get them the best deal, on both their items, delivery, and product support, however if customers like to be treated with respect by the retailers, please DO NOT treat the staff like morons who are lying, the current credit crunch is affecting EVERYBODY including retailers..

I agree. I am fed up with going into stores that are advertising fantastic discounts and finding nothing of the sort. Most of the sale stock is rubbish from earlier sales and prices have been put back up to the original price and then discounted again.

It seems that for years retailers have been taking advantage of the extra money about and not caring about their customers. There is no way you should be insulted in your job but if customers asking for discounts is annoying you, then you are in the wrong job.
I like my money right where I can see it - hanging in my closet.;)
  • I agree with you all in many respects, however in the company i work for the current profit margin in 8-14% not the 75% margin that people think is what is made, that is the margin made by the maufacturers and btw i hate it if my superiors raise prices too! it means i lose sales, and that does annoy me!
And i dont mind being asked for discount, its more annoying that i cant offer as much as i used too! aww aint i sweet
