On disposing of coffee powder

Does anyone know whether pouring coffee powder in the sink blocks it ??
One of my friends tell me that it ultimately clogs the drainage if dumped down the sink.Any home experts advise please?

Coffee powder is designed to disolve in water so why would it block a drain?

Do you mean coffee grounds rather than 'powder'? If so then yes they can easily cause blockages, (I know to my cost!!). Chuck em down the loo instead!!!

I put mine into the compost bin..mind you maybe thats why my slugs seem to be so fast I never catch them..

To echo previous postings:
if you have a composter, you can put them in there.

If not -
coffee powder is entirely water soluble and can be washed down the sink
if its coffee grounds don't put it down the sink as it isn't water soluble, either bin it or you could flush it down the loo.

We had a blockage in our sink pipe which was a mixture of coffee grounds and fat and other bits (don't know how it got there :rolleyes: ).

It errupted out of the pipe the washing machine water flows into and made a lovely mess under the kitchen unit!!!

I now compost it too.

Put them into your flower beds as it adds to the compost and helps keep the cats away.

put them under the grill in some foil you can then actually re use them
