Does anyone have tips for cleaning old vinyl records without resorting to buying a kit?

You can wash them in warm water with washing up liquid and a sponge or soft cloth.
Don't have the water too warm, just enough for it not to be cold.0 -
I use diluted nail varnish remover on cotton wool as it removes the grease from finger marks. been doing that for over 30 years and all records are fine.
soap and water is OK for just dust removal0
