Staff Facilities

Hi

I was just wondering is there a minimum standard that an employer has to meet for staff facilities? Stuff like a staff room, somewhere to get changed and that sort of thing?

what industry is it? Each one is different. My place of work just has toilet and a kitchen- no staff room or changing room but it isnt needed. My mum works in a factory where they aren't allowed to take their uniforms home so they have changing rooms
  • I work in a bakery, have to wear 'whites', so obviously need to change at work! We have a toilet - I'm sure that is mandatory!

The only thing I can remember from the Employment Act is that staff have to have access to free drinking quality water. Our huge organisation actually fell foul of that one as the cloakroom taps were marked "not drinking water" and the drinking fountains did not work. We could either buy bottled water in the staff canteen at shop prices, or ask the dinner ladies for a jug from the preparation area, which was not always convenient if there was no-one around.

Sorry, went a bit off topic there. It's Saturday and I'm bored! :o
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Lol! that's OK. We have access to tap water, so that looks like one facility our employer gives us! lol.
  • if you need to change clothes for work then you need a changing room - especially one that isnt the toilet. Wouldnt like to buy anythign from your bakery lol
  • Lol! Well, we have to change in the little cupboard of a staff room! Lol. We're not allowed to change in the toilet anyway, not that I would want to! I think we ought to have a separate room for changing in - especially as its a tiny room anyway.
  • they would probably say the cupboard is a changing room lol have you asked about possible other rooms to use?

  • It doesn't really go into much detail about how much privacy we're entitled to! We have lockers, so at least our stuff is secure.
