Plus... the guests won't feel bored! they'll each come with their own worries and thoughts that they've gotta be interesting guests!!!! You'll be fab, relax and it'll all come together xxxJust £10,852.28p to go...

Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
And then do it.0 -
Get the radio/TV ready for the midnight shout.
Set several alarms for 10 to midnight so you don't forget.0 -
Thanks again everybody and pastures new, a very good tip there about setting the alarms!
Been to Asda this morning to get some bits and bobs, ended up spending more than what I thought i would but never mind, it's not like i do this everyday.
I want to decorate the house and do the buffet now- i'm actually getting excited now! lol x:love:11th March 2010- Got engaged to my amazing fiance, planning our wedding for 2012

What you could do now is make a list of absolutely everything you will need to do on the big day and the next day, and put timings against them, i.e. how long they will take and when you will do them. Include the bedroom sorting, drink and food arranging, any bits that need cooking or warming through etc., any last minute fresh food that needs buying.
You will feel even more relaxed once you have your complete plan sorted out!
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Oooh thanks for that.
I may well get my trusty notebook out in a little while then, I love making lists and plans. Dp gets cross with me, probably because most mornings he hasn't even opened his eyes and I'm asking "Whats the plan for today then?" lol.
Thanks again.:love:11th March 2010- Got engaged to my amazing fiance, planning our wedding for 2012

Forgot to say, you will get a big kick out of ticking things off as you do them too!

Don't forget to put OH down for the washing up

We have friends over most NYE's and I must admit I usually go for a chilli or lasagne rather than a buffet (not as much work  ).
We usually play a couple of board games and then have a dance. Our children now have a Wii and my friend has Abba Singstar for the PS2 so imagine that those will form much of the evening's entertainment
.
We put the radio on about 10pm (we are near London so get Heart but guess most local radios are the same) and they have fab non-stop music and always 'play' the Big Ben bongs!
And something sparkly is obligatory IMHO for midnight - sets me up for the new year :rotfl: .
For brekkie, on the assumption that you won't be up early, I would do a brunch of usual cooked breakfast foods, croissants, coffee and juice which will see them through lunchtime as well until they leave.
Most importantly - enjoy!0 -
Well, today is the big day and thus far I'm feeling quite calm! Granted this is probably because I haven't done amything yet as I've been out of bed all of 15 minutes! :rotfl:
I blew up some balloons last night so I'm just going to hang a few of those up in a minute and a nice banner.
I can then just focus on the food (the part that will stress me out greatly) because I did all my cleaning and bedroom sorting yesterday. I just need DP to get up now and give me a hand...time for me to go banging around and generally being loud til he gives in a gets up I think!
Just wanted to thank you all again for all the advice and ideas and I will report back tomorrow...so long as it isn't a disastor and I've gone into hiding:rotfl:
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I hope that whatever you are doing tonight, you have a lovely time that is personal and special to you! xxx:love:11th March 2010- Got engaged to my amazing fiance, planning our wedding for 2012

Good luck! It will be just fine and your guests are very lucky to have such a caring hostess! Don't be so busy that you never get a chance to sit down and join in the fun, will you?

We had a wonderful night/weekend!!!:j
They arrived about 4:0pm yesterday and didn't leave untill about 5:00pm today, and it was none stop laughs for the whole time!
The buffet went down really well and not very much was wasted at all, one of my guests said and I quote "This is about the 4th buffet I've been to this month and this is the 1st time my plate has been full and I've had seconds, so thank you!" WHOOOOO!!!
We played loads of games on the wii, they bought a couple with them and one of them bought cranium (a board game) which was a real giggle!
The house looked lovely and we had a wonderful time at midnight, drinking Cava, singing, dancing, wearing daft hats and generally being very silly!
We had the breakfast cobs for well...lunch! lol:rotfl:
It was such a success and I actually had a really good time despite being really nervous, they were all full of thanks and praise when they left which made me very happy.
Thank you all sooooo much for the support, couldn't have done it without you.
I hope you all had a lovely new years eve and that 2009 brings good times for us all! xxx:love:11th March 2010- Got engaged to my amazing fiance, planning our wedding for 2012
