John Lewis price drop - interesting to see what happens

I bought an LCD TV from John Lewis online on Boxing Day, and they've dropped the price by £25 in the 24 hours since. As their sale was already on when I ordered, didn't really see that coming...

Have emailed them asking politely if they will refund the difference, which I think is fair enough seeing as the TV's not even arrived yet. I suppose I could send it back under the Distance Selling Regulations (it looks like they will arrange free collection) and re-order at the new price... hopefully though common-sense will prevail..

Just interested to see how they handle it. I'll let you know (if anyone's interested  )

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago with a Zanussi dishwasher. Between ordering it and the item being delivered John Lewis dropped the price by £20. I called Customer Services and a very nice woman said she'd refund the £20 on to my payment card - no hassles or drama at all. Hope it works out for you!

Just call them up, speak politely and explain what has happened, it could be that some stores are pricematching so online will often reduce it's price to.

JLP are well know for customer service so I see no reason why they won't help. However you may yet be charged the lower price as sometime the order is not finalised until dispatch and lower priced are often charged then.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
  • I had a similar problem with b and q where a shed had been reduced 2 days after i bought it.
a quick call to customer services got me the difference refunded.
after all, the returns policy of most companies means that if they didnt refund the difference people could return the item get a full refund and then buy it again at the lower price

Very happy to say, they've credited the difference back to my card with no fuss at all. Well done John Lewis.... with the 5 year guarantee, the TV was a good price anyway so now it looks an even better bargain!!
