Bought 2 reduced chickens this afternoon, half price-ish, were £5.30 now £2.60 and I thought that was good, then called in at 7pm and got 5 chickens reduced to 50p each !!!! plus packets of chicken breasts were £4.59 now 50p !!! so I bought the whole shelf full , 11 packets !!! plus 10 packets of baby carrots 10p a bag , so got about £80 of stuff for £9.
so now i need some recipes for chicken !!!:j

  • I seem to recall plenty of criticism on this site concerning foreign nationals purchasing everything that was reduced in Tesco, Asda et al. Perhaps some of that criticism should be directed in this direction, too.

  • stop talking out of your backside,
  • Very well done. Oftentimes people tell me of their treasures at Co-op but I've never been lucky there. Mind you, I only ever pop in for something I've forgotten, I don't actually "shop" there.

My Goodness, imagine all that chicken!! It'll keep you going for half the year. Fantastic.

  • our co-op is pretty good for reduced stuff, its the only big shop close to our village otherwise its a 25 mile round trip to town, so i call in everyday to get milk and to see whats reduced, usually veg, which lasts a good week extra in the fridge and bread at 10p a loaf, that goes in the freezer
  • do i have to cook the carrots or blanch them or just freeze them raw ?
  • Mine are frozen raw Storm

  • I thought I got a real bargain from the Coop the other day - 2 of their tuna steaks for 50p down from £4.50. Congratulated myself right up to the point when I realised they had given me food poisoning!

Might have been my cooking though...

You can just freeze them raw, but they'll probably taste a bit better if you blanch them first. IMO.
