Transfering pension benefits after leaving an employer

Hello all,
I am seeking some advice on behalf of a relative who has recently been made redundant. She has recieved a 'Statement of Leaving Service Options' which gives two options: 1) Preserved benefits - this gives a total value of the fund and I assume this figure will change if the money remains in the fund; 2)A right to exchange preserved benefits for a transfer to new employers scheme, a suitable insurance policy, personal pension plan or a stakeholder pension plan.

If anyone could give any advice as to how to proceed with this policy ie leave it alone or move it to somewhere else then I would be most gratefull.

Thanks

There is no rule of thumb advice that can be given. The old scheme could be better than the new one or vice versa. It's one of those cases where figures would need to be obtained and compared.
