I want to purchase a Satellite Navigator for in car use. Must be portable, i.e. not hard wired, and fairly compact in size. Don't want lots of buttons or flashing lights, all singing and dancing with bells and whistles but reasonably basic and easy to use. Possibly with an option to update the internal map information in line with road alterations etc. in the future.
Any recommendations? Price up to £300 absolute maximum. Simple is the main criterion.

The worlds yer lobster with this one. I would recommend from your post a standalone unit from makers such as Garmin or Tomtom0
