I was going to say similar to Itsgottabedone. I'd primarily express it in words. Then, if you can put that together with a thoughtful gift, that'd be perfect. Best though is that they know how you feel. Maybe do the tree/ plant idea and do a label with the meaning on it - i.e. this is from us to you because......Just £10,852.28p to go...
Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
